I think the best thing we can do for our children is to allow them to do things for themselves, allow them to be strong, allow them to experience life on their own terms, allow them to take the subway... let them be better people, let them believe more in themselves.
Motivate with positive reinforcement.
Never criticize your child. Help them recognize that you love them, but it's their behavior you want to mend.
Make simple rules discuss with them.
Nip the evil in the bud try to distract your child's attention to positive activity or game if you find them picking up bad habits.
No yelling firm rules. Teach them to take no too.
